Durban – Runners (and walkers) taking part in the inaugural FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN on Sunday, 8 October 2017 can now support Durban’s four legged angels as event organisers welcome the Durban & Coast SPCA as an official charity.
“We are happy to support the valuable role that the Durban & Coast SPCA fulfils in the lives of thousands of Durban’s animals,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “Animal welfare lies close to our hearts. By backing the SPCA we are not only supporting Durban’s animals, but we are giving entrants the opportunity to do the same. We invite Durbanites to show their support while exploring their beautiful city at the FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN.”
Celebrating its 120th anniversary in 2017, the Durban & Coast SPCA rescues abused and neglected domestic, farm and wild animals, while promoting responsible pet ownership, providing a shelter for strays, and a veterinary service for pets of underprivileged people.
“We are thrilled to be the official charity of the FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN,” says Lindsey Concer, Marketing Manager at the Durban & Coast SPCA. “With proven success in the other provinces, it’s time for Durban to shine. With our beautiful city, this won’t be a problem. To be involved in a wonderful event that brings the Durban community together is a huge honour. Our goal is to make more people aware of the plight of animals in Durban while spreading the message of fighting cruelty against animals. We look forward to being part of the inaugural event and believe that through this partnership we’ll be able to make a valuable difference in the lives of many of Durban’s animals.”
The FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN will highlight the true beauty of Durban, while granting entrants the unique opportunity to explore their city. In addition to exciting on-route entertainment and vibrant event atmosphere, entrants can look forward to exploring iconic landmarks including: the Moses Mabhida Stadium, City Hall, the Durban Railway Station, The Old Station Building, Durban Harbour, Natal Maritime Museum and the Golden Mile Promenade to mention just a few.
